Introduction

Gender and Urban Development is a transformative, inclusive, and sustainable planning approach that integrates gender equality, social inclusion, urban resilience, and participatory governance into city development. Rapid urbanization across the globe especially in developing regions has amplified gender disparities in access to housing, infrastructure, transport, safety, and economic opportunities. Gender and Urban Development Training Course equips participants with cutting-edge tools, gender-responsive urban planning frameworks, data-driven decision-making skills, and policy integration strategies to build inclusive, equitable, and smart cities that serve diverse populations effectively.

This course emphasizes intersectionality, climate-resilient urban systems, digital urban governance, gender-sensitive infrastructure, and inclusive public spaces. Participants will explore how urban policies, land use systems, transport networks, and housing programs impact men, women, youth, and marginalized groups differently. By integrating global best practices, SDG-aligned strategies (especially SDG 5 and SDG 11), and real-world case studies, the training empowers professionals to design safe, inclusive, and sustainable urban environments that leave no one behind.
