Introduction

Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in mining communities remains a critical socio-economic and human rights challenge, intensified by transient labor populations, unequal power relations, substance abuse, and weak community protection systems. Mining environments often create high-risk settings where women, girls, and marginalized groups face elevated exposure to domestic violence, sexual exploitation, workplace harassment, and economic coercion. Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention in Mining Communities Training Course is designed to equip stakeholders with practical, evidence-based, and culturally responsive strategies to prevent, respond to, and mitigate GBV in mining-affected areas using a multi-sectoral approach.

The course integrates rights-based programming, survivor-centered approaches, community mobilization, gender-transformative strategies, and workplace safeguarding frameworks to strengthen resilience in mining communities. It empowers participants with tools for policy implementation, grassroots advocacy, risk assessment, survivor referral systems, and behavioral change communication. By combining theory, practical case studies, and field-tested interventions, the training ensures participants can actively contribute to safer, more equitable, and violence-free mining environments.
