Introduction

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) have become an essential digital tool for community development, participatory planning, environmental monitoring, and data-driven decision making. Modern communities require accurate spatial data, real-time mapping technologies, and location-based intelligence to effectively address social, environmental, and infrastructure challenges. GIS for Community Mapping Training Course equips professionals with practical skills in geospatial analysis, digital mapping, spatial data management, participatory GIS, and community-based spatial planning. By integrating advanced mapping technologies, open-source GIS platforms, and mobile data collection tools, this course enables participants to generate actionable geospatial insights that support sustainable development and community empowerment.

The training emphasizes innovative GIS applications such as participatory mapping, remote sensing integration, geospatial data visualization, spatial analytics, and community engagement strategies. Participants will learn how to collect, analyze, and visualize geospatial information to support urban planning, disaster risk reduction, public health mapping, environmental monitoring, and resource allocation. Through real-world case studies and hands-on exercises, learners will gain the expertise needed to design and implement GIS-driven community mapping initiatives that promote inclusive development, transparency, and evidence-based policy making.
