Introduction

Building resilient food systems is at the core of addressing global food security challenges. The Resilience in Food Security Analysis training course is designed to equip participants with the analytical tools and methodologies necessary to assess, monitor, and enhance resilience in food systems. As climate change, economic instability, and population growth increasingly threaten food security worldwide, this course provides the critical skills needed to develop strategies that safeguard vulnerable populations and ensure sustainable food systems.

Food security resilience focuses on the capacity of individuals, households, and communities to absorb, adapt, and recover from shocks and stresses while maintaining access to nutritious and sufficient food. This course integrates resilience-thinking into food security analysis, providing participants with frameworks and techniques to identify risks, assess vulnerabilities, and design interventions that strengthen resilience at all levels of the food system.

Participants will gain hands-on experience with advanced tools such as resilience measurement frameworks, scenario analysis, and geospatial tools. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the interplay of socio-economic, environmental, and policy factors in resilience. Case studies from global and regional contexts will demonstrate successful strategies for building resilient food systems, offering participants practical insights into real-world applications.
