Introduction

Youth participation in labour movements, workers’ rights advocacy, and collective bargaining activism is rapidly reshaping the global landscape of social justice organizing. Youth Organizing in Labour Movements Training Course equips young people with the skills, knowledge, and strategic mindset required to engage in trade union organizing, grassroots mobilization, and decent work campaigns. It focuses on building a new generation of leaders who can navigate modern challenges such as gig economy exploitation, informal labor systems, platform work precarity, and youth unemployment crises through structured organizing frameworks and digital activism tools.

The course emphasizes practical engagement in labour rights campaigns, policy advocacy, and community-based union building, blending traditional labour movement history with modern approaches like digital organizing, social media activism, and data-driven campaigning. Participants will explore how youth can influence collective bargaining agreements, strengthen worker solidarity networks, and lead intersectional labour justice movements addressing gender equity, climate justice, and economic inclusion. By combining theory, case studies, and field-based simulations, the program builds capacity for sustainable youth leadership in global labour movements.
